Doug McCormick Dance
Doug McCormick Dance’s durational performances use structured improvisational dance scores and exploratory movement processes, transitioning into art spaces
This project will consist of durational performances using structured improvisational dance scores and exploratory movement processes transitioning into 3D physical art space with remnants of dancers movements left behind on canvas and paper by both performer(s) and audience.
Doug is a post-graduate dance artist – creating work which investigates the audience and performer relationship and has a keen interest in developing his research in ‘Trace(S)’ – what’s created, taken away or left behind in the performance space – either created by artist, audience or a collaboration between both.
Doug has performed at Threshold Festival over the last 5 years in different capacities – most notably a featured artist in 2016 with coverage from Art In Liverpool. From pop-up improvisations to durational site-specific work to collaborations with other musicians and artists. Can often be found developing work around the theme of the festival. Examples of previous work includes; a visual / performance art piece performed by creating artwork from dancer’s movements onto canvas through durational performances. The year before a solo was developed with the use of soil, nurturing a relationship between performer, soil and audience.
